This is the chapter that goes south in an obvious way. This goes off the beaten trail the book is headed in for a while and establishes a vantage point from a more innocent point of view.
This chapter is literally a children's storybook within the gravity of a novel.
In fact, I'm engaged in some serious disputes with a couple of publishers that think it's silly to disrupt the momentum of the novel to tell this tale.
I have a whole bunch of my own drawings illustrating the trip from stem to stern.
It all fits, I say.
